What is wing glide?

Wing glide, also known as hang gliding, is an air sport where a person is positioned on a horizontal wing frame and suspended beneath using a harness. The wing is made of a fabric cover stretched over a lightweight frame, usually consisting of aluminum or composite materials.

The pilot controls the hang glider by shifting their weight and adjusting the control bar to change the angle of attack of the wing. The wing provides lift in the same way as an airplane wing, allowing the glider to stay aloft for extended periods.

Hang gliding can be done on hills, mountains, or towed behind a vehicle, such as a boat or car. The sport requires some physical fitness, as the pilot must run and take off from a hill or be towed to gain altitude.

Hang gliding can be a thrilling and exhilarating experience, but it is essential to be properly trained and equipped with a parachute and safety harness. It is also important to check weather conditions before flying, as wind and turbulence can impact flight safety.
